Exclusive: Striker Lee Gregory on his Millwall contract situation

Lee Gregory is happy to focus on football rather than contract negotiations – and has promised his form will not be affected by being just over six months away from becoming a free agent. 

The Millwall striker, 30, has netted seven times this season. He is already five goals ahead of his haul at the same time 12 months ago.

The form of Sheffield-born Gregory has been praised by Lions boss Neil Harris – who reckons he is one of the top-performing Championship strikers at the moment.

Asked about his future, the forward told the South London Press: “There’s been a few talks and stuff. I’m enjoying my football and I just want to get on with what I am doing at the moment. I don’t want any distractions.

“There’s nothing affecting me at all. The club is happy with what I am doing and I’m happy at what the club is doing. We’re both in a good place.

“I don’t think we need to change anything at the moment. We’ll just see how it goes.

“We’re not in a bad place. Everyone is getting along.”

Winger Jed Wallace (calf) is a doubt for tomorrow’s derby at Brentford. The former Wolves man had been unable to train in the first half of this week.

Harris said: “I’d love to have him fit enough to play some part, whether that is from the start or the bench.”
