‘Extremely diligent’ Charlton midfielder makes loan move to Northampton Town
Charlton Athletic midfielder Terry Taylor has signed on loan for Northampton Town, writes Richard Cawley.
The 23-year-old has struggled to cement a first-team place since joining for an undisclosed fee from Burton Albion in July 2023, not helped by a succession of injuries.
Taylor has played 14 times in all competitions for the Addicks but has not featured in League One since the 0-0 draw against Mansfield on December 14.
Charlton were also prepared to let him move in the summer transfer window but a switch failed to materialise.
Taylor looks set to make his debut for the Cobblers in tomorrow’s match at Wycombe Wanderers. Northampton are 20th in England’s third tier but have a five-point gap from the relegation zone.
Taylor, who started on the books of Wolverhampton Wanderers, has played 21 times for Charlton.
Charlton technical director Andy Scott said: “We wish Terry well during his loan.
“He is an excellent professional who has been extremely diligent in everything he has done this season and this move gives him the opportunity to go and play regularly.”
