Millwall manager Gary Rowett hailed the fact The Den was able to host fans again as Millwall booked a place in the second round of the EFL Cup.
The Lions came from behind to beat Portsmouth 2-1 thanks to goals from Scott Malone and George Saville, as chairman John Berylson was one of the relieved watching supporters at The Den for the first time in 18 months.
“It was great to get in front of our fans and brilliant that John could come over as well,” said Rowett.
American businessman Berylson has not been able to attend games since the COVID-19 pandemic begun, but was in the crowd and will be at both Millwall’s games against Blackburn on Saturday and Fulham next Tuesday.
The Lions boss added: “When you’ve put so much energy and money into the club for the last 18 months without an awful lot of return, watching on iFollow, I’m sure as an owner of a club wasn’t what you bought the club for.
“So it was nice for him to come over and watch the game. I thought that was brilliant.”
