Former Charlton and Wimbledon striker Lyle Taylor lands League Two transfer

Former Charlton and Wimbledon striker Lyle Taylor has signed for League Two side Colchester United.

He has penned a one-year deal at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Taylor was a free agent after having spells with Wycombe and Cambridge in League One last season.

The 34-year-old worked with the Cowley brothers before during their time together at Concord Rangers.

He told Colchester’s website: “They, Danny and Nicky, have said ‘we don’t want you to come in just for you, we want you to come in for what you know and what you can pass onto the younger players.

“They said, ‘There are especially two young centre forwards at the club who have got a really good chance, and they said what you have learnt and how you’ve built yourself from non-league, we can give these boys a better chance than they’ve already got’.”
