Former Charlton defender makes QPR move

Former Charlton Athletic defender Morgan Fox has joined QPR on a two-year deal after leaving Stoke City.

The left-back came through the Addicks’ academy and made 116 appearances during his time in the first team.

Fox, now 29, joined Sheffield Wednesday from Charlton for a reported £700,000 fee.

He played 78 times for Stoke before leaving this summer on a free transfer. He played 43 times last season.

QPR boss Gareth Ainsworth said: “I’m really pleased with this one.

“I’ve said from the moment I came in that experience is lacking a little bit in this squad, we have got some fantastic young talent here but it needs some leadership and Morgan definitely brings that.

“He is a warrior and brings much-needed experience.

“Morgan is only 29 and there is no reason why he can’t have a really good stint here, and he brings healthy competition to that backline.”

Fox added: “It feels really good to be here, I’m excited.

“The manager explained his plans for the team and for me personally, and it is an exciting opportunity.

“I will be looking to use my experience to push this squad forward.”
