Former Charlton defender scores winner as Bromley eye late play-off charge
Andy Woodman says Bromley have given themselves “a fighting chance” of reaching the League Two play-offs after Tuesday night’s 1-0 home win against Doncaster Rovers.
The Ravens have picked up five victories in their last six matches to move up to ninth in the table.
Former Charlton defender Deji Elerewe scored the winner in the 10th minute, finishing off Brooklyn Ilunga’s cross from close range.
Bromley are four points behind Crewe, who occupy the final play-off position.
Woodman told the club’s YouTube channel: “It was all hands to the pump at the end and, I’ve got to be honest, they must be kicking themselves – they missed some big chances.
“The character of the team got that result and a little bit of luck. Our goalkeeper, again, was excellent.
“We’re not just looking to make the numbers up in the league and have given ourselves a little bit of a fighting chance at the moment.
“The signs are good. It is 11 cup finals now and we have got to make sure we keep taking care of our business – don’t worry about anyone else and just worry about what we’re doing.
“It was a brilliant 1-0 victory against a massive club at this level, compared to us.
“It was a great ball (by Ilunga). If you have got someone like Deji attacking the ball in the box then you don’t half have to do well to stop him.
“We didn’t have many chances but we dug in.”
