Former Charlton midfielder signs new deal after League Two title-winning season

Former Charlton Athletic midfielder Darren Pratley has signed a new deal with Leyton Orient after winning the League Two title with the east Londoners.

The O’s triggered a contract extension to keep Pratley at Brisbane Road for another year after he featured 38 times in League Two in the season just gone.

Orient finished the season six points clear of second-placed Stevenage.

Pratley featured 111 times for Charlton in all competitions after joining in 2018 after leaving Bolton.

He played 71 minutes in the 2-1 win over Sunderland at Wembley in the play-off final in 2019, which saw the Addicks promoted to the Championship.

“I’m delighted to be staying here at the club, especially after the season we just had in League Two,” Pratley told the club’s website.

“It’s a chance to go up to the next level, and have another good season.”

“I’m not delusional and think that I’m going to play on forever, but I still feel fit and have played the majority of the games this season. I still feel good, and my former teammates who are coaching now keep telling me to carry on playing.”

“I’m already looking forward to coming back next season. Hopefully fans and players can enjoy the off-season, and we’re hoping the fans will come back next season and push us over the line as they did last season.”
