Former Charlton winger Ademola Lookman earns praise after Leicester’s 2-0 win over Millwall

Leicester City assistant manager Chris Davies had praise for Ademola Lookman after the South London-raised attacker helped them to a 2-0 win over Millwall.

The Foxes booked their place in the fourth round of the EFL Cup with the former Charlton youngster on target along with Kelechi Iheanacho.

Davies said: “Really positive….a really good win. We had good control of the game throughout and we had to defend well at times as well. We knew before the game it would be a big challenge and we came through that and got the win, so we’re really pleased.

“He [Lookman] has been outstanding since he came in, in terms of his training mentality and the way he approaches his work as a footballer. That has been a real highlight for me and he gets his rewards today with the goal from the rebounded shot.

“He effected the game a lot when he came on against Brighton. He plays off the other side tonight and it was a game of few chances. We had to work really hard for the chances that we did have. It was a good performance by Ade and great for his confidence that he can score another goal.

“Excellent goal [by Iheanacho]. You could say he set up the goal by having the first shot parried and the second is a great individual strike. He was always available for the forward passes, securing the ball and setting up the play was really good. He’s had to be patient at times this season but he knows he’s a really important player for us.

“This is another competition we think we can do well in. But our mantra since we came is the next game, to approach it as well as we can. You need a little bit of luck along the way with the draw as well. We’ll take the next challenge when it comes.”
