Former Crystal Palace and Charlton defender lands Premier League coaching role
Former Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic defender Mark Hudson has joined Paul Heckingbottom’s Sheffield United coaching staff.
Hudson, who has also had two spells at Huddersfield Town as caretaker boss, was sacked as Cardiff City manager in January.
He played 137 times for Palace between 2004 and 2008 before leaving Selhurst Park to join Alan Pardew at Charlton.
Hudson made 45 appearances during his time at The Valley.
He also had spells at Fulham, Oldham and Cardiff during his playing career.
Sheffield United won promotion to the Premier League last season after finishing second in the Championship.
Blades boss Heckingbottom said: “Mark boasts a wealth of experience of the position and will therefore be adding a lot of detail and support to the defenders. He has also managed too, as have Stuart McCall and Jack Lester, which, from my own point of view, is invaluable.
“He has experienced that position right the way through to the top level, he’s coached teams, knows the importance of the defensive unit and also knows how to get a performance out of the group, which helps me, makes my job easier and makes sure fine details aren’t missed.”
