Former Crystal Palace defender released following Championship relegation

Ex-Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann has been released by Reading after they were relegated to League One.

The 36-year-old originally joined the Royals in August 2021 after he left Crystal Palace on a free transfer.

His deal at the Select Car Leasing Stadium was extended for another year after the former Walsall defender featured 18 times in all competitions.

Dann only turned out 14 times this season – missing a large chunk of the first half of the campaign through injury – as the Royals were relegated to League One for the first time in 21 years.

Reading were docked six points by the EFL for breaching the terms of a profit and sustainability plan to manage their spending.

Former England U21 Dann joined Palace in January 2014 under Tony Pulis, going on to make 181 appearances for the Eagles in all competitions.
