Former Millwall boss linked with Hearts move
Former Millwall manager Gary Rowett is being linked with the vacant job at Hearts.
Scottish media claim that the former Lions chief is in the running to succeed Steven Naismith.
Naismith was sacked as head coach after a run of eight straight losses with the Edinburgh outfit bottom of the Scottish Championship.
Rowett opted to leave Millwall in October 2023 after four years in charge.
Since then the former Charlton Athletic defender has done punditry work for Sky Sports and also returned to Birmingham City on an interim basis in March but was unable to keep them in the Championship.
Naismith and his backroom team had only agreed new deals in August. But since they the Jambos had not only struggled in the league but also been knocked out of the Europa League and League Cup.
Hearts chief executive Andrew McKinlay said: “They worked tirelessly in their roles and without them we would not have enjoyed the successes of last season.
“However, things can change quickly, particularly in football. Results and performances have fallen below the standards expected at this football club and, unfortunately, there is little evidence of any potential upturn in fortunes.
“With our Conference League campaign about to commence, and the spotlight on our league position, we cannot afford to stand still.”
