Former Millwall man backed to be a captain at Middlesbrough

George Saville has been backed to be a future Middlesbrough captain – despite taking time to settle on Teesside following his big money move from Millwall.
The 25-year-old will officially become the Lions’ biggest transfer sale when he completes a permanent January move. He initially joined Tony Pulis’ side on loan towards the end of August but with a guaranteed deal – believed to be worth around £7million, in place.
Saville has started five games for Boro but has been an unused sub three times.
He came on in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
“I think one day George will end up being captain of this football club,” said Pulis on Saturday night.
“He’s got the right character, he’s just found it difficult at the moment.
“He’s been a London boy all his life and coming up here is so, so different. Eventually that kid will captain the club. He’s a good player – but we need more off him.
“Saville did really well when he came on. The block at the end, a fantastic block at the end – nobody will see it – but I thought he was good today.”
