Former Palace and Millwall defender wants Rangers job

Former Crystal Palace and Millwall defender Kevin Muscat would reportedly be interested in speaking to Rangers about becoming their new manager.

TalkSPORT have reported that Muscat would be keen on the role after Rangers sacked former QPR boss Michael Beale on Sunday evening.

The 50-year-old is currently head coach of Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos where he succeeded Ange Postecoglou back in 2021 when he joined Celtic.

Muscat made 56 appearances during his time at Selhurst Park, winning promotion to the first division under Steve Coppell in the 1996-17 season.

He joined Millwall in 2003 and captained the club during their FA Cup final run.

Muscat missed the final – a 3-0 defeat against Manchester United – due to injury but made 62 appearances at The Den.

Rangers are third in the Scottish Premiership – behind St Mirren – and seven points off league leaders Celtic.

Muscat has won the Japanese title and the Super Cup during his time with Yokohama.
