Fulham attacker targeting push for European football after Nottingham Forest win
Fulham attacker Emile Smith Rowe is targeting a late push for European football after they beat Champions League hopefuls Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The Whites moved up to eighth in the Premier League table – two points and one place away from a UEFA Conference League spot – after a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage over Forest.
Goals from Smith Rowe and Calvin Bassey either side of a Chris Wood strike saw Marco Silva’s side secure all three points.
When asked by Radio 5 Live about reaching European football, Smith Rowe said: “Of course, that was the ambition at the start of the season.
“At the same time we’ve got to keep pushing, taking every game as it comes. It’s really tight so we’ve got to stay focused.
“It was a massive win for us today. It was important for us to get three points on the board and we’re delighted with the performance.
“I feel like our form away from home has been really good but at home we haven’t really been clinical enough. Today was important that we bounced back at home.”
The west Londoners host Crystal Palace tomorrow. They had drawn half of their home games this season and only lost three times.
Silva said: “We deserved much more from the results before. We know that results speak louder in football, and we are here to win games, but when you perform the way we are – home and away – the good results are really close.
“Sometimes it doesn’t happen because football is unpredictable. But performance-wise, it has been a great season for these players.
“We want to take the best from them and win football matches. This win has come too late for the way the players have been playing at home for the last few games.”
