Fulham boss Marco Silva gives his verdict on win at Millwall + teenage star Fabio Carvalho
Marco Silva was happy with Fulham’s performance as they ran out 2-1 winners against Millwall at The Den on Tuesday evening.
Aleksander Mitrovic and Fabio Carvalho scored for the Cottagers, before Benik Afobe got a consolation goal for Millwall late on.
The west Londoners remain unbeaten after three Championship matches and have recorded back-to-back victories to lead the way in the early standings.
Head coach Silva said: “Really pleased to see how we played, we deserved the three points. We were the best team on the pitch from the first minute to the last.
“We were the dominant team, we dominated all the game. We didn’t even give them the chance in parts of the game to arrive in our box. We created so many chances that could’ve made it a different score. At 2-0 we had chances to score the third, fourth and the fifth.
“We knew how difficult it would be to play against Millwall with this crowd, the atmosphere and the way we play.
“It’s a good feeling for me that we created so many chances. Last game we scored five but we cannot always score four and five. Even at 2-0 we still tried to score more.
“Of course the game is always open, the Championship is always like that and after a really unlucky goal that we conceded, they believed a little bit more. We controlled the game well and deserved the three points.
“Fabio was fantastic. Not just himself, I’m seeing every game we play the team is getting better, achieving better things. The team is being more consistent.
“It was a very good performance [from Fabio], in the first-half he was fantastic. He looks fresh every time. Not just with the ball because he’s done fantastic work without the ball too.
“Everything we ask of him, he is doing. He’s learning, he’s 18-years-old. He is showing very good things and it’s up to me to keep giving him the right information. It’s important for him to keep his feet on the floor.
“I told the team we must start really strong. We knew and expected a Millwall team to start really strongly. It’s good to play with this atmosphere behind us.”
