Fulham boss Marco Silva: We were better team against Leeds United

Marco Silva felt his Fulham side were full value for their 2-1 victory over Leeds United today.

The Whites won back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time since early February.

Harry Wilson’s 58th-minute strike put the west London club ahead and they added a second when Andreas Pereira converted from close range.

Joao Palhinha’s unfortunate 79th-minute own goal ensured a nervy finale.

“Definitely well deserved in my opinion, to play until 99 to 100 minutes,” Fulham head coach Silva told BBC’s Match of the Day. “We were the best team. The first half was more balanced. With better decisions we could have created more chances. In the second half we adjusted a little, but we had to have more patience. We needed to win the second balls and be more aggressive.

“With our quality and our fast attacks we did well with the two goals. There was chances to score even more. The own goal gave that belief to them, but well played to the lads they did well.”

“I said yesterday everyone expected us to go down. Everyone talks about in football that we was favourite to go down and nobody believes in us. We worked with the quality we have we was really proactive we showed that in the first game against Liverpool.

“We are proud of ninth but we are always looking at the next game.

“We could have scored even more goals. An own goal gave them belief, but overall we were the best team,” said Silva.

“It was a great game for us and we didn’t suffer too much in the end. We were the best team and the players deserved it as a group, to win again at home at the Cottage in front of our fans, and we have to keep going.”
