Fulham hit with FA fine after Joao Felix’s red card

Fulham have been fined £27,500 by the FA after they admitted to failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion after Joao Felix’s 57th-minute red card in their 2-1 win against Chelsea.

The Cottagers took the lead against Graham Potter’s side in the 25th minute after Brazilian winger Willian cut inside on his right foot and curled a shot towards goal, deflecting off Trevoh Chalobah and past Kepa.

The Blues drew level just after half time when Kalidou Koulibaly bundled home Mason Mount’s free-kick.

Portuguese attacker Felix, who was making his debut for the two-time Champions League winners at Craven Cottage, was sent off in the 57th minute for a rash tackle on Kenny Tete.

Carlos Vinicius met Andreas Pereira’s looped cross towards the back post in the 73rd minute to seal all three points for Marco Silva’s side.

A statement from an FA Spokesperson said: “Fulham FC has been fined £27,500 after its players surrounded a match official during the Premier League game against Chelsea FC on Thursday, 12 January 2023.

“Fulham FC admitted failing to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 57th minute, and also requested a hearing.

“An independent regulatory commission imposed the club’s fine and its written reasons will be published at the earliest opportunity.”
