Fulham in seventh heaven after Luton demolition seals Championship title
Fulham sealed only the fifth league title in their EFL history as they smashed Luton Town 7-0 at Craven Cottage on Monday.
Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice in the rout to take his goal tally to 43 for the season – eclipsing Guy Whittingham’s record in the modern day second tier that had stood since 1992.
Fulham have scored 106 goals and will look to buck their record of instant Premier League relegations following their last two promotions.
The last time that Fulham won a championship was Jean Tigana’s swaggering side in the 2000-01 campaign.
“The aim to be champions was always inside our dressing room,” Whites boss Marco Silva told BBC Radio London. “We knew what we wanted from the first day.
“It started to feel in October and November that we had been so dominant, we had to finish in this way.”
