Fulham player ratings from 1-0 defeat to West Ham – Tosin impressed but attacking players lack a finish

Fulham’s poor form continued as they lost for a fourth straight Premier League game.

Harrison Reed’s own goal helped West Ham secure a 1-0 win to boost their survival hopes.

Here are Richard Cawley’s player ratings from Craven Cottage.

BERND LENO – 8

The German had no chance with the West Ham United goal and made two really big saves in the second half, first denying Danny Ings after he was slipped in on the right of the box and then did the same to frustrate Hammers substitute Maxwel Cornet after a Tim Ream error put the east London side in again.

ANTONEE ROBINSON – 5

Partly culpable in the lead up to the only goal. The American left-back partially turned his back on Vladimir Coufal’s cross. Did send a shot flashing over the crossbar in the 38th minute but Lukasz Fabianski looked to have it covered.

TOSIN – 8

Completely dominated Michail Antonio in challenges, so often using his strength and edge in mobility to step in and win the ball before the West Ham number nine had time to control the ball. Climbed well to meet a Harry Wilson corner in the 86th minute but could only direct his header into the arms of Fabianski.

TIM REAM – 6

Had the most touches of any Fulham player – 98 – but that is no surprise when West Ham United sat deep and were content to play on the counter. A loss in concentration let in Cornet for a late chance to kill off the contest and it was his attempt to clear Coufal’s cross which led to Jarrod Bowen’s delivery for the Reed own goal.

CEDRIC SOARES – 6

Not a bad performance from the Arsenal loanee on the left of the back four but his crosses were meat and drink for Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna. Replaced by Kenny Tete in the 68th minute.

PALHINHA – 6

Not one of those matches where he had loads of tackles to make, simply because Fulham had so much control of the ball. Couple of nice crossfield passes to switch play. Lost possession four times, the most of any Fulham player alongside Manor Solomon.

HARRISON REED – 5

The Fulham number six didn’t know a whole lot about his own goal, Coufal’s low cross clipping off his heel and past Leno in the 23rd minute. Replaced by Tom Cairney at half-time.

WILLIAN – 6

Had a first-half shot blocked by Zouma but was not one of the Brazilian’s more stellar displays since signing for the west Londoners. Referee Jarred Gillett could easily have booked Coufal for a cynical foul to prevent the former Arsenal and Chelsea attacker breaking dangerously in the first half.

ANDREAS PEREIRA –6

Fulham’s most impressive player on the day but – and it’s a fairly big but – he had to do better with an 83rd minute chance after being put through on Fabianski’s goal by Carlos Vinicius. Instead the South American’s heavy first touch allowed the Poland goalkeeper to get a right glove to the ball as Pereira tried to go around him. On an afternoon where the Whites failed to get behind deep-set opposition, it was a telling moment.

BOBBY DECORDOVA-REID – 4

Another to be replaced at half-time and hard to recall him making any kind of contribution on the right of midfield. Touched the ball just 19 times before making way for Manor Solomon at the start of the second half.

CARLOS VINICIUS – 5

That Aleksandar Mitrovic ban is looking more and more costly for Fulham. Vinicius had just 19 touches in 93 minutes and was predictably dominated in the air by West Ham’s backline. In saying that, he did not win a single aerial duel. Also booked for kicking out at Zouma in the second half after being fouled.

SUBS:

MANOR SOLOMON  – 5

The Israeli international was more involved than Decordova-Reid but never really got the chance to cut in off the wing and go for a trademark curling finish.

TOM CAIRNEY – 5

Produced one excellent sliding challenge to stop Declan Rice’s advance but the club captain was also brought on to try and cajole more creativity out of the home team. Did head over after Zouma only partially cleared Kenny Tete’s cross.

KENNY TETE – 5

Replaced Soares. Not really much to say about his performance.

HARRY WILSON – NA

DAN JAMES – NA
