Fulham looking to close gap to Premier League top four

Fulham have the opportunity to close the gap to the Premier League top four this weekend if they pick up all three points against Everton tomorrow and other results go their way.

The Cottagers can go level on points with Chelsea and Newcastle if the Blues fail to beat Brighton and Eddie Howe’s side lose against Aston Villa.

Marco Silva’s side moved into the European spots last weekend after a 3-2 win over Leeds United, with goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic, Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Willian giving the west Londoners all three points.

A large part of Fulham’s scintillating start to life back in the top flight has been Andreas Pereira’s performances since he joined from Manchester United in the summer.

The £10milllion arrival has bagged one goal and four assists in 12 Premier League appearances.

“He has been outstanding this season,” Silva said of the Brazilian playmaker. “I know a lot of people had doubts when I decided to sign him, but I knew his qualities and his character.

“Even last season, we had a conversation about his future, but it wasn’t the right moment for him to join us. He’s a key player on and off the ball and with set-pieces.

“Two assists this afternoon. He’s a top professional who is enjoying himself at the moment in a white shirt. The three midfielders all played an amazing game today.”
