Gary Rowett gives his verdict on Millwall fans being back at The Den

Gary Rowett hailed Millwall’s supporters after their return home to the Den during the 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
It was the first time in almost 18 months that they were able to attend a game without any restrictions.

Jed Wallace gave Millwall a second-half lead before Ben Brereton Diaz struck back to earn the visitors a draw.

Lions boss Rowett was delighted with the lift the crowd gave his side and has backed that to make an impact as the season rolls on.

“The players really enjoyed the fans being back. Everyone’s commented that it’s made it feel like a completely different type of game,” said Rowett. “The fans helped inspire the players.

“In my opinion, if we’re playing every week performing like that when we should win a lot of games of football.

“There are small moments in the games that you’re disappointed with sometimes as a manager, but I thought we navigated the game quite well.

“Second half I felt the fans gave us another lift again and we went again for a 15 or 20 minute period where we really good and got ourselves in the ascendency. We know it’s a difficult place to come.

“Tony said before the game about how the atmosphere was fabulous.

“We’re all just enjoying being part of it. What we want to do though is enjoy being part of it and win games when we’ve had the lion’s share of the game.”
