Gary Rowett on what reception he believes Neil Harris will get from Millwall fans

Gary Rowett is in no doubt that Neil Harris will get a good reception from travelling fans in tomorrow’s Boxing Day clash between Millwall and Cardiff City.

Lions legend Harris quit as manager at the end of October and quickly landed a role back in the dugout when he succeeded Neil Warnock at the Welsh club.

The 42-year-old won promotion as a player and as a boss at the South London club.

He will not get a Den return this season – the two sides have already met in SE16.

Rowett said: “I’ve been in the same situation as Neil and it is always hard for the person that has left the club, the person who has a big history with the club.

“First and foremost I’m pretty sure the fans will give him a really good reception but when the game starts it will be no holds barred.

“I imagine it will be a difficult game for Neil in terms of mixed emotions. He might want to prove a few things and win the game – that always puts you a little more on edge. It will be a game where two teams are trying their damnedest to win. Our away form has been really, really positive and their home form is good.

“We’ve got some real difficult games coming up. I always felt the Barnsley game would have a bit more significance in some ways because we had Cardiff and Brentford to come – both real tough games. But we go there again to try and win, like we did at Swansea, Bristol [City] and Derby.”
