Gillingham v Charlton Athletic team news: Lyle Taylor and Patrick Bauer both miss out due to injury
Lyle Taylor and Patrick Bauer are forced to sit out Charlton’s trip to Gillingham.
The duo are both nursing minor knocks which means that Addicks boss Lee Bowyer won’t risk them with the end-of-season play-off campaign just around the corner.
Top-scorer Taylor has a tight groin, so Jonny Williams starts in his place, playing just off lone striker Igor Vetokele.
Bauer has a knee complaint, which means that captain Jason Pearce will partner Naby Sarr in the centre of the defence.
There’s two further changes as Ben Reeves and Albie Morgan are replaced by Darren Pratley and George Lapslie in the midfield.
Lewis Page, who has been out injured since October, finally returns to the squad as he gets a place amongst the substitutes.
Goalkeeper Chris Maxwell, who is yet to make a Charlton appearance during his loan spell from Preston, is ill and therefore youngster Ashley Maynard-Brewer will take his place on the substitutes bench at Priestfield.
Alfie Doughty makes his first appearance in the squad for a league game as he also features on the bench, as does Jake Forster-Caskey, who returned from a long-term injury with a cameo appearance last time out against Scunthorpe.
There’s still no room for Tariqe Fosu and Mark Marshall in the matchday squad.
