Hamstring injury set to end Millwall attacker’s season
Luke Freeman looks set to miss the rest of the Championship season after injuring his hamstring in training.
The Sheffield United attacker only joined the Lions on loan on transfer deadline day and made his debut as a second-half substitute at Fulham last week.
But Freeman suffered the setback before Saturday’s Championship fixture against Cardiff City.
The 29-year-old was a 77th-minute substitute for Oliver Burke at Craven Cottage. His last league action prior to that was against Preston in mid-September.
Millwall manager Gary Rowett is set to have depleted offensive options for tonight’s home match against QPR with Benik Afobe coming off in the second period, also with a hamstring niggle.
Tom Bradshaw (knee) and Sheyi Ojo (ankle) are also sidelined.
The Lions allowed Matt Smith and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson to join Salford City and Bolton Wanderers respectively in the last transfer window.
It could see Rowett go with a frontline partnership of Jed Wallace and Mason Bennett for the visit of the R’s. Bennett came off the bench to score Millwall’s second goal in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Cardiff.
