Herne Hill Harriers round-up: Awuah and Snowden bring track seasons to a close
Kristal Awuah and Katie Snowden brought their track seasons to a close after flying the Herne Hill Harriers flag throughout the summer – the latter in particular has enjoyed a quite phenomenal breakthrough this year.
Awuah has represented not only her club but Great Britain at the World Junior Championship in Finland where she won two bronze medals.
On Saturday she was selected for the Europe team at the IAAF Continental Cup in Ostrava.

Katie Snowden wore her red-and-black Herne Hill club colours as she placed seventh in an international field in the women’s elite one-mile road race at the Great North City Games in Newcastle, European champion Laura Muir taking the win.
Snowden closed out what has been a long season that began with the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast back in April. Although not seeing the breakthrough she would ideally have wanted, Snowden has fully established herself among the top British senior middle-distance athletes in another of the nations stronger events in depth and will go into her winter training with high hopes.
Carshalton hosted the Surrey combined events and track relays championship and Herne Hill had relay wins in the following age groups – U13 boys 4x100m and 4x200m (the latter was a championship best), U13 boys 4x100m and 4x300m, senior men 4x100m and 4x200m, U13 girls 4x200m and U15 girls 4x100m.
