Herne Hill Harriers round-up: Ore Adamson up to 11th in UK long jump rankings after fine effort in Texas

Balham’s Ore Adamson produced a 6.06m long jump at College Station in Texas at the Alumni Muster meet on Saturday.

It moves her up to 11th on the UK women’s rankings list for 2021 and third in the U23 women’s age group.

Harriers recorded a number of PBs at the South London Athletics Network (SLAN} open meeting in Coulsdon on Saturday – headed by a superb 800m win by U15 boy Keeran Sriskandarajah, who knocked more than 2.5 seconds off his PB from last October with an excellent 2:03.30 which sees him top the UK rankings for his age group at this distance. He also clocked 38.94 in the rarely-raced distance of 300m.

Ignatius Abebrese (U20) enjoyed double success as he won the long jump with 6.63m, ranking him eighth in the UK in his age group and placed second in the triple jump with his furthest mark to date at this event, 14.05m, but the latter had a tailwind over the limit for ranking purposes. Dylan Taylor (U15 boy) long jumped a PB of 4.87m.

There were a string of 800m PBs from U20M Jacob Alley (2:10.89), U17M David Aisa Miller (2:13.31), U15 Archie Penniceard (2:14.45), Jon Goldston (2:15.18), Alexander Wilson (2:22.17) and Warren Wilson (2:22.41), U13 Dylan Gillies (2:29.32) and Luke Attfield (2:29.84), U11 Edward Cunniffe (2:40.69) U13 Jack Wesley (2:41.17), Konrad Paliwoda (2:41.85) and Will Perry (2:45.92).

The females who ran PBs were a string of U15 – Abbey Jeffcoat (2:23.64), Lucy Wright (2:24.74), Sophia Sahai (2:24.83), Anna Forster (2:30.18), Izzy Perry (2:32.00), Orla Carroll (2:32.61) and Vivi Marshall (2:38.30) along with U13 pair Florence Mills (2:39.50) and Sophie Wright (2:44.26). Sofia Mendes (U11) clocked 2:53.97.

Sophie Harris ran her first race as a Herne Hill member to place second woman and seventh overall in the RunThrough Newbury 5km (17:21).

Joe Fenwick ran a good opener over 3,000m with his 9:10.00 in Sunday’s Worthing Open Meeting/ Simon Wade clocked 10:21.35 to kick off his track season in the next race. Fiona de Mauny raced over 800m for the first time since the 2020 indoor season and recorded 2:17.37. She then ran 63.57 in the 400m.

Isaac Ogunlade ran his first 400m race of 2021, clocking 51.48, at Hornchurch

Izzy Perry (U15) followed up her 80m PB at Coulsdon on Saturday with a PB 1,500m at Gillingham with a time of 5:07.84.
