‘He’s making people take notice’ – Charlton boss delighted at Kanu’s four-goal haul for Southend United
Michael Appleton reckons that Daniel Kanu is “making people stand up and take notice” after his four-goal haul for Southend United at the weekend.
The young Charlton striker recently joined the Shrimpers on loan.
Kanu left Roots Hall with the matchball after his flurry of finishes in Saturday’s 5-0 win over Solihull Moors.
“He’s done great and proven he is a goalscorer,” said Addicks head coach Appleton, when asked by the South London Press about Kanu’s achievement.
“It’s what I love about the loan system, certainly when players are going out to create an impression and make a statement.
“When you go and score four goals – like he has done, along with the goals he has scored already – he is making people stand up and take notice. Probably the most important one, for him, is making sure that I’m aware of how well he is doing.
“He can’t do any more. He’s got to continue to do that. When the time is right we can have a discussion and see what is the best move forward.”
