Horsman to compete in British GP2 Championship

BY GILES SPENCER

Cameron Horsman will compete for a second year in the British GP2 championship.

After a very successful rookie season in 2020 the Forest Hill racer, 19, returns to ride for the same Go Racing SGR Team with support from Nova Racing. The championship forms part of the British Superbike series.

Horsman has already shown great progress in the GP2 series. Off the back of two British Moto3 championship runner-up finishes in 2019, he made the jump up to a Moto2 motorcycle for the 2020 season.

Horsman had two podium finishes at Silverstone in September and he took a maiden GP2 race victory after coming through the field in the pouring rain at Donington Park the following month.

He finished sixth in the championship, only failing to finish in the points in one race.

Horsman has developed his own fitness programme to help increase the strength in his arms, a problem he identified last season having moved from the lightweight Moto3 in 2019 to the much heavier and more powerful Moto2 in 2020.

“After such an encouraging start to my GP2 career last season it was an easy decision to return to the same team this year.” said Horsman. “I feel really positive about the season ahead and don’t see why we should not be running in the front group at races and I am expecting more podium success this year.”
