Huddersfield Town chief took special measures to subdue Millwall dangerman

Huddersfield Town manager Neil Warnock felt Zian Flemming was left “frustrated” by the man-marking job that he did on Millwall’s number 10 on Saturday.

The Terriers came away with maximum points from SE16 after Danny Ward’s 67th-minute goal.

Flemming was shadowed by Rarmani Edmonds-Green. Millwall’s club record signing had five shots in the match but also dropped deeper to get on the ball.

The Dutchman had 60 touches, a figure only exceeded by Jake Cooper (100) and Charlie Cresswell (102).

“I just look at each team we’re playing against and if I feel like that, I do it,” said former Palace chief Warnock about his special treatment of Flemming. “I don’t think I’ve done it before. I just think he is a good player, so influential, and I didn’t want him to be influential today.

“He got a little bit frustrated, didn’t he, in that respect. You can see how good he is.

“I didn’t want Hoggy (Jonathan Hogg) to go on him, because he’s had a bit of an injury. I thought he’d be a little bit too mobile for him. Whereas Reg has come on and he’s been doing well in training as well.”
