‘I don’t care about rumours’ – Charlton boss on Crystal Palace winger recall speculation

Charlton Athletic manager Dean Holden has given his verdict on Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s loan spell and says he does not pay any attention to speculation Crystal Palace may recall the attacker.

The 20-year-old scored his seventh goal of the season in today’s 2-0 victory over Barnsley.

Rak-Sakyi has made 29 appearances for the Addicks as he builds up his experience.

The South London Press has been told that Palace were waiting to see the ownership and managerial situation at the League One club before they make a final call on whether to recall the youngster this month.

Rak-Sakyi has been linked with other clubs this month.

Holden said: “It’s not difficult, with the rumours – if I hear them, which I do sometimes. My son keeps an eye on some of the stuff on Twitter. I don’t care. It’s rumours.

“Jes Rak-Sakyi is very happy here – you can see that in his performance today. He’s such a good, young player. Crystal Palace are happy with the way we’re using him. There are ongoing conversations with the guys there, Dougie Freedman and Mark Bright.

“From their point of view it is important their player comes out and plays games. Maybe not every minute of every single game, how does he learn if he comes out of the team? It’s all about us developing him to go back to Crystal Palace.

“For us he is helping us in the short term. He barely says a word, to be fair, but when he’s on the pitch he is a helluva player. I’m really impressed with him, really pleased.”
