“I was right to snub move away from AFC Wimbledon” – Jack Rudoni delighted at first-team football with League One club

AFC Wimbledon midfielder Jack Rudoni believes his regular first-team appearances prove he was right to snub rival interest.

The 19-year-old was aware that clubs higher up the football pyramid were circling for his services before he penned a deal in April last year.

Rudoni’s ambition is to play in the Premier League.

He has made 37 appearances for the Dons since graduating through their academy.

Rudoni said: “I spoke to my agent and I was aware of the interest. It was a good decision to stay at Wimbledon, because to make nearly 40 appearances in men’s football is a good amount. Nobody can take that away from me.

“All I want to do right now is to stay at Wimbledon and help them stay up. If that comes with me doing well and I get interest, then we will review what happens then. Obviously, everybody wants to go to the top and I believe that I will get to the Premier League. That’s the kind of person I am – and I won’t stop until I get there.

“All I’m focusing on is the next game for Wimbledon because that’s where I am and that’s who I want to help. I want to enjoy my football here, and I am. Hopefully we can go on a good run, pick up lots of points and really make ourselves comfortable. Then we can prepare for next season and push on.

“Even though it sounds a lot, we can even push to the top half of the table because the actual quality of the team is capable of doing that. Once we get back on a good run, we can pick up points, do well as a team and make the fans happy.”
