‘I wish I could give him my hamstrings and calves!’ – Charlton boss on Chuks Aneke’s availability

Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has talked about Chuks Aneke’s return to action.

The big striker came on in the 81st minute of Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Reading.

Aneke has been riddled with injury issues since he returned to the Addicks from Birmingham City.

But the former Arsenal and MK frontman has proven to be highly influential when he has been fit.

Aneke has played a total of 221 League One minutes in his 10 appearances, scoring once.

“Chuks is Chuks,” said Jones, speaking after the stalemate against the Royals. “We all know about Chuks, I can’t speak anymore about Chuks. I wish I could give him my hamstrings and calves! I’d gradually swap them. Groins….everything. He can have them and we’d get him for longer.

“It was harsh on Hylts (Danny Hylton) to come off the bench but Chuks was electric in training on Friday, so we made that decision.

“We know if we get a fit and aggressive Chuks Aneke he is a real asset.”
