Ice Hockey – Streatham in high spirits

Streatham forward Ryan Webb believes good team spirit has played a big part in the RedHawks recent good form as they made it four wins in five with a 4-2 win at Invicta Dynamos last Sunday, writes David Carr.

The 23 year old winger was on the scoresheet and has already equalled his goal tally from last season with six to his name.

He said: “I am really enjoying the season. “It is a new challenge and a great experience, especially playing against the teams who have come from a higher league and competing with them.”

“We have a superb dressing room and that has really helped all of us enjoy the season.”

Streatham topped their Cup group with a stylish win in Kent.

Michael Farn opened the scoring after 33 seconds and it was downhill for the RedHawks from there as Aidan Doughty, Jamie Hayes and Webb all scored.

Webb’s return to goalscoring form has been a boost for Jeremy Cornish whose side struggled for goals last season. Webb arrived in South London with an impressive scoring record but failed to find his form in a campaign that eventually ended in a disappointing showing in the play-offs.

“Playing with the three former EPL boys; Watty, Carr and Farn who all have vast experience at a high level for many years has really helped me to step up my game” explained.

Streatham are on home ice as they host Invicta Dynamos again this coming Sunday.
