‘Interesting move’ – Ex-Crystal Palace chief Simon Jordan delivers verdict on PSG’s transfer pursuit of Wilf Zaha

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan says it would be an “interesting move” for Wilfried Zaha should he join French giants Paris Saint Germain this summer.

The 30-year-old will be a free agent at the start of next month. However, the Palace academy graduate has been offered a new deal worth £200,000 a week by the Eagles.

He has also has offers from Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Atletico Madrid are reportedly also interested in signing the Ivorian. And French media – Le Parisien – say that the French champions PSG have made contact about a switch.

Zaha – Palace’s top goalscorer and appearance holder in Premier League history – has scored 90 goals in 458 matches for the Eagles.

“Wilfried has been given an enormous amount of money at Crystal Palace – far more money than any other player who has ever been at that football club,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

“A lot of it is merited. Some may argue that he has been a victim of timing. There were times when he could have gone to other football clubs, but they weren’t prepared or in that mode to spend a certain amount of money.

“He’s at the stage now where there is one move left. I quite like the idea for him. I don’t want him to leave Crystal Palace, but Crystal Palace can go on now with other players and not be dependent on Wilfried.

“You would rather have Wilfried Zaha in your side than not. Going to PSG is an interesting move for him.

“He’s going to play Champions League football, he is going to be remunerated at a level probably even greater than what he’s been able to get at Palace, and significantly so.

“It gives him a change of scenery and lifestyle. It could be the right time.”
