Is on-loan Chelsea defender a realistic target for Charlton Athletic? Addicks boss Bowyer has his say

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Lee Bowyer does not believe that Jay Dasilva is a realistic target for Charlton in next month’s transfer window.

The 20-year-old was a star performer for the Addicks on loan from Chelsea last season.

And the England U21 international made a temporary move to Bristol City at the start of the current campaign.

Dasilva had a run of six matches for Lee Johnson’s side but has not been on the bench for the last three fixtures and prior to that was unused for two games.

“We’d love to have him back with us but I can’t see it being a possibility,” said Bowyer. “He has gone up to the Championship and done well.

“I’d be surprised if Chelsea take him back and loan him to us.”

Charlton need cover with first-choice left-back Lewis Page recovering from a groin problem.

“I’d rather bring in someone with experience,” said Bowyer. “We are looking at all different levels – Championship, in our league and abroad.

“We’re just weighing up who suits our way of playing. I’d like quite an attacking left-back.”
