‘It doesn’t write the other one off’ – Luton Town boss on magnitude of Kenilworth Road clash against Millwall

Luton Town boss Rob Edwards does not believe a defeat for either his side or Millwall would write either team off in the Championship play-off race tomorrow night.

The Lions head to Kenilworth Road level on points and goal difference with Luton in the Championship, with the South Londoners above Rob Edwards’ side in the table on games won.

Both sides picked up three points at the weekend. An early strike from Zian Flemming gave Gary Rowett’s side the victory at Stoke.

While Luton won 1-0 away to Birmingham thanks to a second-half goal from Carlton Morris.

“Two teams who are in there at the moment – deservedly so,” Luton boss Rob Edwards told the club’s YouTube channel, looking ahead to Millwall.

“We have got to make it a really, really good game. These are the games we want to be involved in.

“Our fans are going to have the place rocking – it’s one we’re looking forward to.

“We have obviously got to recover now, assess everyone tomorrow and see how everyone rocks up.

“Millwall will be the same – they have had a really tough fixture away at Stoke.

“We don’t approach it any differently – we know it’s a big game.

“Every game now becomes the biggest game of the season. Tuesday now is the biggest game of the season and then Saturday [against Swansea] will be bigger again.

“If someone comes out on top of Tuesday, it doesn’t write the other one off, does it?

“We don’t need to get carried away. It’s a big game, but they all are now.”

Gary Rowett recently moved up to fifth in the EFL’s longest-serving manager’s list after Gareth Ainsworth left Wycombe for QPR and Karl Robinson was relieved from his duties at Oxford United.

“He’s a top manager – he’s very experienced now,” said Edwards of the Millwall boss.

“His teams are always there or thereabouts.

“We know it will be a really difficult game – you can just tell by where they are in the league, their performances and their results as well.

“Don’t think there will be much in it. It will be another tight one. Let’s enjoy the ride and see how things go.”
