‘It will be a cracking atmosphere’ – Steve Morison says Millwall-Blackburn is a must-watch

Steve Morison reckons that Millwall’s Championship decider against Blackburn Rovers will be “a cracking atmosphere”.

The Lions will be in the play-offs if they win their final match of the regulation campaign at The Den.

Sunderland’s 2-2 draw with Watford yesterday left Gary Rowett’s side sixth in the standings with Coventry leapfrogging them following a 2-0 win over Birmingham City.

Blackburn can go level on points with Millwall if they beat Luton Town tomorrow but they have a hugely inferior goal difference.

Former Lions striker Morison – whose Wembley goal fired the club into the Championship in 2017 – told Sky Sports: “Everyone else will write Millwall off every single year, because of the money of the teams that come down and because of the teams who are all of a sudden going to invest loads.

“Whereas Millwall is probably the most stable club in the Championship – from the fanbase, from the staff and the players. That is success on its own.

“What happens inside the football club, that’s what nobody else sees. When you play for the football club – or manage the football club – what we feel when we’re inside the football club is completely different to what everyone else thinks about us.

“It is why every year they have been a spot or two outside the play-offs but consistently in and around there. You take the next step and you want to achieve.

“You want a place to go and watch football next weekend? Millwall-Blackburn will be a cracking atmosphere.”

Former Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam, who was also on punditry duty for the channel on Friday night, added: “If you do make the play-offs then nobody will want to play Millwall over two legs, without a shadow of a doubt.

“One more final push. It will be a full house and an atmosphere that probably the lads have not had this season. They’ve just got to go and play the match instead of the occasion.

“They have given themselves a chance, that’s all you can ask.”
