“I’ve got both eyes on it” – Millwall boss Gary Rowett talks about January transfer window
Millwall manager Gary Rowett is assessing his options in the January transfer window – with the South London club deprived of key attackers in the opening months of the campaign.
On-loan West Brom striker Kenneth Zohore (calf) is unlikely to be back until the turn of the year and his loan is due to be reviewed in mid-January.
Troy Parrott, also brought in on a temporary deal from Tottenham, has been sidelined with quad and ankle injuries.
Mason Bennett was back available for tonight’s 1-1 draw with QPR but Connor Mahoney remains unavailable.
Rowett said: “I’ve got both eyes on January – because with the injuries we’ve had and the disruption we’ve had has made it very difficult for us.
“We’re 15 games in and that was the first time I’ve managed to play Troy, Mason and Jed together. At times they were really bright.
“I’ve only managed to put Ken Zohore out there once from the start.
“It’s been difficult. We have got a small squad and we’re fighting very hard against lots of teams with riches and options.
“At the moment we’ve got to scrap and try and win a game.
“It would be nice to get those options back firstly.
“But in the forward areas we’ve been hit with the players we’ve brought in to try and be the difference. They’ve not been available.
“We’ll look to January but we want to get to January in a much better position than we’re in now. That’s as much of a focus as it is on the transfer market.”
