Jayden Stockley: I’ll help bring the boys together on Charlton’s Celtic Manor training camp

Jayden Stockley can’t wait for Charlton’s training camp at Celtic Manor – and is determined to help younger players on the trip settle in.

The striker has joined on a permanent basis from Preston North End for an undisclosed fee.

Stockley and his Addicks team-mates are back in at the club’s Sparrows Lane training ground today and tomorrow for fitness tests.

While Charlton are in Newport they will play a behind-closed-doors friendly against Celtic on July 10.

Stockley told the South London Press: “I like the team bonding. We have got a trip to Wales planned and I love all that.

“I’m a big character in the changing room. I like bringing the boys together. I like trying to make it a great atmosphere for the young lads who haven’t experienced it before.

“I’m 27 now, nearly 28; I see myself as a bit of a senior player, especially after the amount of games I’ve played and clubs I’ve been at. I need to use my experience and enjoy every minute of my time in football.

“Sometimes you don’t realise you’re doing such an amazing job. I enjoy being absolutely knackered after you’ve done a triple session – you need to just realise there are so many people who would love to do it as well.”

See Friday’s South London Press for an exclusive interview with Stockley.
