Jeffrey Schlupp wants Wembley date with Crystal Palace
Jeffrey Schlupp is dreaming of stepping out onto the Wembley pitch after helping Crystal Palace into the quarter finals of the FA Cup.
The midfielder took just eight minutes to open the scoring in Sunday’s 2-0 win at Doncaster Rovers.
Max Meyer later capped an excellent move to double the lead after the Eagles had weathered significant pressure from the hosts.
“We obviously knew if we got past this round, we’d be in a good position,” he told Palace TV.
“[For the goal] I found a bit of space on the left side so I drove into the space and before I knew it, I was in the box.
“I thought I’d get a good strike on it and see what happens – thankfully it went in.”
Schlupp conceded that it was a difficult game, with Doncaster having chances to equalise before Meyer doubled the lead, but felt his side had more quality to see them through.
“We knew it was going to be a tough one, and anyone who watched saw that they played good football. But we’re obviously pleased to have come here and won the game. We scored two good goals and are through to the next round.
“This is a special tournament and hopefully with the luck of the draw we might get a ‘lesser’ team, if that’s what you want to call it, to have a better chance of getting through.
“Obviously any trip to Wembley is special and hopefully we can do that.”
