Joe Pigott double takes AFC Wimbledon out of the League One bottom four

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Joe Pigott scored twice for AFC Wimbledon as they beat Wycombe Wanderers to move out of the League One relegation zone.

The striker had seen his first-half penalty saved by Ryan Allsop before heading in seven minutes before the break.

Alex Samuel put the Chairboys back on level terms soon after the break.

But Pigott, who has scored a lot of vital goals in their recent upturn in form, nodded Wimbledon back ahead on 53 minutes from Anthony Wordsworth’s cross.

The Dons are up to 19th in the table. They go to Bradford City on the final day of the campaign next weekend – knowing a victory will guarantee their third-tier status for next season.
