Joe Wollacott set to be back in goalkeeping equation for Charlton’s fixture against Fleetwood Town

Joe Wollacott is set to come back into selection contention for Charlton Athletic’s League One home game against Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

The Ghana international saw his World Cup dreams dashed as he suffered a broken finger in November.

Wollacott still linked up with his country in Qatar but only on a watching brief as he recovered from surgery to repair the damage.

He was signed on a free transfer from Swindon Town in the summer.

Ashley Maynard-Brewer has taken over as the current number one with Craig MacGillivray, first-choice stopper last season, joining Burton Albion in January.

Wollacott played the full 90 minutes for Charlton’s U21s as they won 2-1 at Bournemouth on Tuesday.

January signing Michael Hector and Chuks Aneke both completed 65 minutes.

“For Jojo that is probably the last tick in the box – in terms of that he has done his rehab now and a period of training,” Holden told the South London Press. “That’s his comeback from injury, in terms of playing a game.

“It was a chance for Michael and Chuks to get minutes. He (Aneke) has trained for a period of time now, so he needs to tick that box of coming through a game and what does that feel like two days later.”

Steven Sessegnon could be available for the visit of the Cod Army but is managing an ongoing knee problem.
