Johnnie Jackson: AFC Wimbledon squad will get an opportunity in Bromley EFL Cup clash ahead of League Two outing
AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson says Tuesday night’s EFL Cup clash at Bromley will be an opportunity for members of his squad to stake a claim in his League Two starting line-up.
The Dons will head to Hayes Lane twice in the space of the week – playing Bromley in their very first League Two home outing next Saturday.
Andy Woodman’s side picked up their first EFL Win on Saturday after beating Harrogate 2-0 on Saturday.
Wimbledon came from 2-0 down to beat Colchester 4-2 at Plough Lane in their first game of the 2024-25 season.
This will be Bromley’s very first EFL Cup outing after winning promotion from the National League last season.
“Strange to play them twice,” Jackson told the South London Press.
“I know Woody – I worked with Woody at Charlton.
“I have seen what he has been doing with his teams. They are organised, hard-working and at it all the time.
“If we are to get anything from either of those games, we will have to be better than we were in certain moments today [against Colchester].
“It will be an opportunity for those guys who didn’t get the start today to play.
“We want to win that game. We want to go through in the cup and get to the next round.”
