Johnnie Jackson credited with Charlton Athletic’s set-piece prowess

Nigel Adkins once again had praise for assistant manager Johnnie Jackson after Charlton scored from another deadball situation in Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over Lincoln City.

Ryan Inniss headed home Albie Morgan’s deep corner kick to put the South London club 2-0 up in midweek.

And Chuks Aneke also converted the young midfielder’s free-kick right at the death on Saturday to earn a 1-1 draw at Accrington Stanley.

“We’re a massive threat from set-pieces,” said Charlton boss Adkins. “I think we’ve scored more goals from set-pieces than anyone in the league.

“A great work out from Johnnie Jackson. A lot of praise for Johnnie and what he has done. We look very solid defensively and from set-pieces.

“We scored a very important goal at the weekend from a set-piece. We work hard at them. Great credit to Johnnie Jackson for that, and Ryan Inniss for scoring a goal.

“It was the same thing at the weekend but his header went the wrong side of the post [in the second half]. He gets that free header. That could’ve been the winner [at Accrington]. Today it is the second one to put us in a stronger position in the game.”
