‘Keep South London ours’ – Crystal Palace defender previews Millwall FA Cup clash

Tyrick Mitchell wants to keep South London bragging rights at Selhurst Park ahead of Crystal Palace’s fifth round FA Cup clash against local rivals Millwall.

The Eagles beat League Two side Doncaster 2-0 to set up the first clash at SE25 against the Lions since 2012, with Palace winning promotion to the Premier League at the end of that campaign.

Alex Neil’s Millwall have beat Dagenham and Redbridge and Leeds to get through to this stage of the competition.

The two sides last met in 2022 – Palace winning 2-1 at The Den in the third round of the FA Cup.

Looking ahead to the tie, Mitchell told PalaceTV: “It’s one that we look forward to and the fans look forward to.

“Do you know what I mean? Just keep South London ours.”

The Lions boss was at Selhurst Park on Tuesday night and Oliver Glasner’s side Aston Villa 4-1.

Mitchell picked up an assist for Palace’s fourth, setting up Eddie Nketiah for his first Premier League goal for thee club.

“It was a difficult game,” said Mitchell.

“You can see that they had a few chances where luckily there was offside. But we always knew we were in the game.

“Even even when they scored the equaliser, we knew we were in the game. So overall, it was a hard game, but just happy that we won.

“We know every time we step on a pitch that we can create chances. I don’t think that’s a big issue for us. Sometimes it doesn’t go in, sometimes it does. And today was a day that we were able to score four – that’s always a positive.”
