Kevin Nisbet cleared to ‘crack on’ as Millwall striker Bradshaw could be back sooner than expected

Millwall manager Gary Rowett says that Kevin Nisbet has been cleared to “crack on” after the Scottish striker returned from an ankle injury in Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Swansea City.

Nisbet had been missing with an issue picked up in the recent Den win over Rotherham United.

But he was back in the Lions’ starting line up yesterday. Millwall’s other senior striker Tom Bradshaw (hamstring) is unavailable.

Rowett had said earlier in the week that experienced defender Murray Wallace would sit out the Swans fixture as well due to a knock but he was able to play.

“Muzza came in on Tuesday and he felt as though he could train Thursday and be okay for the game,” said Rowett. “He was initially ruled out for two or three weeks but certainly responded quite well to treatment and felt okay.

“I took him off towards the end but that was just tactically – trying to get more energy down the sides.

“Nizzy was fine. He’s been told just strap it up and crack on. There was no physical reason he couldn’t get through those minutes.

“It was probably difficult today because I had to keep them on. At the moment he is the only real recognised number nine that we’ve got. Hopefully Bradders is not too bad. He might not be out too long and might have half a chance for the Hull game. Again, slightly better news on the injury front although I’m not too concerned by that, having just lost 3-0 at home.”
