Lee Bowyer hopes to have Charlton striker Igor Vetokele back from injury for play-offs

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer hopes to have striker Igor Vetokele back for the play-offs.

The Angolan forward has been in resurgent form recently, scoring twice in his last three appearances as he struck up a useful partnership with Lyle Taylor.

But he was unable to feature during the South Londoners’ 4-0 win over Rochdale on the final day of the regular season.

The Addicks will face Doncaster Rovers in the semi-finals, with the first leg at the Keepmoat Stadium next Sunday.

Bowyer said that he is hopeful of Vetokele returning in time.

“We were doing a bit of finishing on Thursday and his thigh just tightened up a little bit,” he explained.

“We just couldn’t take the risk [against Rochdale]”
