Lee Bowyer: I’m sure Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet will let me sign replacement for injured Jake Forster-Caskey

Wantaway Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet will allow Lee Bowyer to sign another midfielder following Jake Forster-Caskey’s season-ending injury, according to the Addicks caretaker boss.

The midfielder suffered a serious knee injury during training on Thursday, that will see him side-lined for entire League One campaign – which started with a 2-1 defeat at Sunderland this afternoon.

The South Londoners are already light in the middle of the park and will badly miss Forster-Caskey who is one of their most influential players. The club have only made two signings so far this summer, with Duchatelet still in the process of trying to offload the League One outfit to an Australian consortium.

“I’m sure we will,” responded Bowyer when asked if he will be able to ship in a replacement.

“I’m sure that the owner will give us another midfielder because obviously Jake is a big part.

“We prepared for this game all week. I named the team on Tuesday. We worked Tuesday and Thursday to sort out how they play, what their strengths are. To lose Jake on Thursday was a massive blow for us and himself.

“Nobody wants to see anyone get an injury like he got. The strange thing is it wasn’t any contact or a tackle, he was running to close someone down, tried to stop and it just gave way. The kid was it bits and we all feel for him. He’s been excellent pre-season and he’s a big part of our side, a lot of our play goes through him.”
