Lee Bowyer passes judgement on Huddersfield Town – and wary of ex-Addicks star Karlan Grant

Lee Bowyer has given his verdict on Huddersfield ahead of Charlton’s crunch visit on Saturday – and reckons they should not be amongst the Championship strugglers.
The Terriers are scrapping to stay in English football’s second tier despite being a Premier League club just over 18 months ago.
Former Charlton striker Karlan Grant – sold last January – has scored 14 times this season for Town.
Bowyer travelled up north early this week to watch Huddersfield’s 2-1 win over Bristol City on Tuesday night.
Grant netted in the match, only his second goal in 2020.
“Their two wide men both scored the other night and caused a threat – in the middle of the park they were good,” Bowyer told the South London Press. “They were good, but they lost Hogg – he went off injured so he’ll be a doubt.
“But they have got a lad on loan from Chelsea, Trevor Chalobah, who is a good player as well.
“They have got good players – they shouldn’t really be down there, but they are.
“Karlan is a big threat for them going forward.
“It’s going to be another tight game, but I look at last night [Sheffield Wednesday] and we could’ve come away having nicked a 1-0 win. Lyle hit the bar and they made an unbelievable block on Lyle from about five or six yards out.
“We’ll be there and give it a go, we always do. No point is guaranteed – you have to fight for every point. They don’t just give it away. Everyone is playing for their own reasons and stay focused.”
Charlton are 18th in the table but just two points above the bottom three with Luton Town, Wigan and Barnsley all victorious in the latest round of fixtures.
“It just shows they were good results for us against Barnsley and Luton,” said Bowyer. “It shows that we’re doing well – we’re competing. They are two who finished above us last season but we beat them both.
“There are a lot of games, a lot of points to be playing for.”
