Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa: 4-1 scoreline in our defeat against Crystal Palace ‘exaggerated’ our performance

Marcelo Bielsa felt the 4-1 scoreline his Leeds United side were beaten by against Crystal Palace was “exaggerated”.

The Leeds boss conceded that his team losing the game was fair – but that the margin was harsh.

Scott Dann, Eberechi Eze, a Helder Costa own goal and Jordan Ayew scored in Palace’s biggest goal haul at Selhurst Park since their 5-3 thrashing of Bournemouth in May 2019.

Former Eagles loanee Patrick Bamford netted for Leeds in the first half.

Bielsa said: “The defeat is fair, but the difference is exaggerated. The goals Palace scored arrived at the time when we deserved to score.

“Their left-back (Patrick van Aanholt) was dangerous. The other full-back (Nathaniel Clyne) lost duels.

“We had a lot of activity on both wings, but when we attacked the full-backs were well-protected. When they attacked they had more space to attack.”
